Music functions as a language, akin to spoken and written language, it employs rhetoric to convey meaning. The language of music incorporates elements of grammar, syntax and punctuation, utilizing musical phrases and sentences. It embraces a range of dynamics, tempos, and contrasts between loudness and softness, speed and slowness, as well as accents and dramatic pauses. Both, speech and music, heavily rely on precise timing to achieve their intended effects. The person behind this complex structure is the one who’s trying to convey the message intrinsic to the form. The form is not just a function of the message but an art itself. The different rhetoric figures that are used in spoken and written language find their role also in the musical one and are a way to create depth in the musical discourse. In his 4-weekly radio show - Splendid Alfonsino and his guests will use each time different linguistics artifacts as a base to build up the musical speech and create an étude of dance-music.

Splendid Alfonsino is one of several alter egos of fredinstabile, an Italian DJ and event organizer based in Berlin. He is the founder of the collective schwach&eklektisch and of the event series “Tap Dance” hosted @zur Klappe where he showcases international as well as local DJ.
